I am so excited to share this design plan with you guys, I’ve been wanting to change up this space in our home for a long time. I actually have changed it… like a lot… since we moved into our home 5 years ago. I recently shared this space when it looked like this.
I loved it but in reality it still just didn’t work quite right. There was like a LOT of furniture crammed into not that large of a space. It was originally (not very thoughtfully) designed to be a formal living room + formal dining room. When I filled it with even small scale furniture in those two areas it felt so cramped and when people came over… using the space was tricky. I hate when spaces fail to function right… especially in our smaller size home it is SO important to me that our home does a lot more than just look pretty.
This design plan comes with some really fun DIY projects, including an Ikea built in hack and a built in window bench which is something I have wanted to do since we purchased our home. So I’m really excited to share those projects as they happen. Along with a less fun DIY, moving the existing ceiling pendant to the middle of the room instead of where it is now, off to one end for the “formal” dining area. We live in Arizona so while everyone everywhere else is finding ways to remove ceiling fans, I would LOVE to be able to add a ceiling fan in this room for more air movement
Other than DIY projects, I’m working with the pieces we already have, the only new things I purchased were a larger area rug + a larger coffee table to anchor the hopefully more spread out seating area.
A lot of the pieces that I have and the ones that I will be purchasing for this project are very budget friendly, you can shop the design plan here.
So excited to flex some design muscles, work with what I have and put in some elbow grease that I am SURE will pay off in the end. Can’t wait to share it all with you!
