Hey Hey! I wanted to stop in and share some photos I took of Grace's room this week I added a cute new pillow to her bed, and while I've been drooling over a couple different beds... I have to say that I am still utterly happy with utterly happy with this space. I think it is the perfect mix of classic + trendy.
When I set off to create a space for my sweet little girl, I really wanted her room to be light, bright, and cheerful. I love the mix of trendy colors mixed with very classic pieces, I think it really makes this space appealable to all ages. I think that the base of this room is classic, with the white walls, and navy accents... but the fun florals I've added throughout make it so fun and just little girl enough. Additionally, I might also try some DIY storage solutions for her toys and other items. I have heard that pallet wrap and the wooden crate can be used to create funky storage boxes. I can paint them in colors that will go with the room's interior and use them in my little girl's room. Moreover, the board & batten was a bit more of a DIY project than I originally bargained for, you can see how I did it myself here. Overall, it was pretty easy, and I was able to complete it mostly on my own... I did borrow my husband to help me caulk all the zillion rectangles I made by wrapping the entire room in board and batten. It added instant character to our builder grade home and I don't regret even a single minute of the zillion minutes it took to caulk all that trim work. I've tweaked some pillows and some throw blankets here and there... but overall it's been the same for the last nearly 6 months... and that says a LOT in my house because if you haven't gathered yet... I am always switching things around over here. You can't walk into this room and not have a smile on your face.
The headboard was another DIY project, I love the whimsical shape... though I've had my eye on a fully upholstered bedframe... this one is so sweet and I love that it was inexpensive and turned out so good.
When I'm designing a place, I purposefully chose things that are adaptable. The bedding and linens are sometimes the most expensive items in a bedroom. I make the bed the most comfortable area someone can have any time I remodel a bedroom by investing in bedsheets akin to hotel sheets (we all adore soft hotel sheets, right?). I like how the bedding is adaptable and can be changed as my daughter grows. Right now, I have it paired with bright florals and a colorful rug, but I could easily change the feel by taking away the bright pink and changing it to more of a neutral scheme as she gets older and wants something more grown-up and less playful.
