Hey friends! I am stopping in with a super easy DIY idea for you today. Did you know that you can make your own wood stain at home using ingredients such as white vinegar that are simple to find? It is super easy, no toxic chemicals, and has such a cool effect on your wood!
Things you will need:

Vinegar

Steel Wool

What you do:

Pour vinegar into a mason jar, no need to measure, I just eyeballed as much as I thought I would need for my table. After you’ve done this, you add in a couple pieces of steel wool and let it do it’s thing for 24-48 hours. I mixed it about halfway through.

That is it! Seriously! You can try out different kinds of vinegar, each kind will provide completely different results! For my table I used just plain white vinegar, I’ve heard that red wine vinegar will give you a light brown stain, and that apple cider vinegar does it’s own thing too! So fun to try out! It didn’t take to all of the table top evenly but I really didn’t mind on this farmhouse table. I was going for a weathered look in the first place. After it dried, I applied a matte wipe on poly for resilience against spills and life. I am so in love with the results I got! Isn’t that so fun and unique? The vinegar oxidizes the wood and naturally ages it quicker than leaving it outside for a while. So cool!
